Arieta Lewis “アリエータ・リュイス” is a mysterious woman who often suddenly appears in various places.

(She is known as “Arieta Lyuis” in localized version of Growlanser II The sense of justice)

Sometimes she appears with a friendly personality, other times she appears with a cold personality. Depending on how the story goes, she could have a different fate regarding her life.

Arieta is a 17 year old girl, and her height is 155 cm. She has blue eyes and long blue hair.

She wears a blue-white outfit and she wears a headband with orange flower-like decoration on her head.

Personality

For some reason, she has a dual personality, and the original Arieta is a gentle girl who doesn’t like fighting.

But the other personality is capable of hurting others without hesitation, often appears suddenly in various places commanding the monsters.

She looks like a 17 year old girl, but since she has lived since the era of Growshian reign, her actual age is estimated to be over 200 years old.

Arieta respected Venzern who was once a wise king. In order to lighten Venzern’s burden of sealing Gavas’ soul, she volunteered to seal Gavas’ half soul within her body.

She is good at attack magic. Somehow she is weak to alcohol, weak enough to get drunk with rum raisin ice cream.

Background

The girl who appeared in Wein‘s childhood. The appearance hasn’t changed at all since that time. In fact, she is the strongest Growshian that is comparable to even Venzern. The only best friend he had was Serebu the fox with supernatural powers.

There is a reason that her age and appearance have not changed despite the reunion after about 10 years, because she was doing cold sleep with the frozen sleep device of the ruins near the place where they met.

The cycle of waking up for only 3 days a year to prevent physical deterioration has been repeated for 200 years, and it was exactly at that time that she met Wein.

The reason for her cold sleep was that she was in danger of being spotted by the evil Venzern and to avoid the control of the soul of Gavas, who was sealed in her own body.

Since Venzern’s death, Gavas’ half-soul that was sealed by him fused with the half-soul that was sealed in Arieta’s body.

This made it even more difficult for her to suppress Gavas’ soul so that Gavas often took control of her body. Her body, which had been resisting until then, is gradually being put under control without being able to escape from the strong spiritual control of Gavas.

Growlanser II The sense of justice

Arieta’s first appearance in Growlanser II The sense of justice was when Wein and party passed through the grasslands to the Magic Academy. They told each other their names, and after Wein warned Arieta to be careful of bandits, Arieta left.

When Wein saw Arieta in the Space-Time Control Tower, he greeted her, but didn’t continue the conversation after seeing Arieta acting cold.

Sometime after Xenos joined Wein’s party, Arieta appeared commanding the Yungs to attack the villagers of Agriss. After the Yungs were defeated, she left.

While Wein and the party were chasing the messenger in the ruins east of the Comsprings, Arieta reappeared with the Yungs. When she was asked why she did this, she didn’t want to answer and left after being defeated.

As Wein played the ocarina in the scenery west of the Burnshtain Capital, Arieta appeared and showed a happy reaction to the ocarina’s melody. But he left before Wein could ask further. When they met again in grasslands, Arieta admitted that the girl he met as a child was her. Then she warned Wein not to approach her anymore.

Some time later, Arieta attacked the Schwartzfals Village by leading the Yungs. After Wein and the party managed to defeat all Yungs and capture Arieta, she took advantage of Wein’s naivety to escape. After that Serebu explained Arieta’s situation being controlled by Gavas.

As Wein and party were heading towards Wolfgang’s headquarters, they found Arieta and Serebu entering the spacetime control tower. Inside, Gavas was trying to resurrect its body through Arieta. When Wein and the party tried to stop it, Gavas’ soul returned to its body taking Arieta’s soul as a hostage.

Carmine advised Wein to use a transmission device to recall Arieta’s soul. After Arieta’s soul managed to return to her body, the party relented to Gavas without hesitation. After that Arieta asked to join Wein because her life was saved by Wein, so she wanted to use it for him.

Growlanser III The dual darkness

In Growlanser III The dual darkness, Arieta appears as an imported character.

However, she is not involved in the main story, and only appears a playable character.

Her presence or absence will not affect the main story.

Players can talk to her to listen a few words from her.

But she is not voiced in this game.

Growlanser ~Densetsu no Isan~

In Growlanser ~Densetsu no Isan~, Arieta appears in the original scenario: Yukemuri Bojō (Love Wreathed in Steam).

This story takes place after the story Growlanser 2, where Arieta and Serebu who are on vacation at Comsprings.

Wein then appeared and joined them. They had some ice cream that had a little bit of alcohol in it.

It turned out that Arieta has a low resistance to alcohol and got drunk.

During her drunkenness, Arieta showed her hidden attitude which troubled Wein. Moments later, she regained consciousness from her drunkenness.

Arieta who enjoyed those happy days wished that she would have days like that.
