Just like Carmine, no personality is set, and all his speech and conduct are left to the player, and he doesn’t speak.
But during the battle, he utters as much as a shout.
His personality is determined from character making at the beginning of the game, but it can change slightly depending on the choices the player chooses throughout the game.
However, the options player can choose will change depending on his first personality.
His weapon is a big sword. The performance and growth value in battle depends on the result of character making, but basically he is an all-rounder warrior who can handle anything above average.
Background
His true identity is the King of Dark Spirit Messengers (Dark Lord). In order to deal with Zion’s rebellion, the 2 previous Lords tried to wipe out the situation and tried to handle it in secret, resulting in a serious and irreparable situation.
Unable to bear to let that continue, Slayn tried to revealed the facts to other spirit messengers and died after being attacked by Zion as he tried to devise countermeasures.
However, he couldn’t die in peace until he defeated Zion.
Then he transferred his soul to Gray‘s body, which had been defeated by Randolph and was seriously injured.
In other words, the protagonist of this work is the Slayn’s soul who has transferred to Gray’s body.
Originally, the soul of the possessed body would be expelled during possession, but Slayn used an unreasonable technique to keep Gray’s soul, and as a result, he lost his memory.
Growlanser III The dual darkness
Annette, who helped him, said, “If you go to new world, you can live without worrying about your past,” and he will participate in the space-time fusion project.
Originally, Slayn was thinking of joining the space-time fusion project. However, during that time, Zion interferes and his comrades go out to fight. After seeing their struggle, Slayn jumped out of the space-time control tower to save his comrades.
A Yūsha (brave one) who fought for the success of the plan even though he had to give up his migration. Later generations called him the “Light Savior” Growlanser. Slayn was also the first Growlanser and was the origin of it.
Depending on the choice after defeating Zion, Slayn will leave for the underworld. If he stays in Gray’s body as it is, his soul will crush Gray’s existence.
In case something goes wrong, Slayn told the chief of the Dark Messenger, “When I fulfill my wish to defeat Zion, please help the owner of the body by secret art”. After all is done, Slayn’s soul leaves Gray’s body.
However, if the ending conditions with other characters are met and have a homunculus manufacturing device, his soul will be transferred to the homunculus made to imitate the gray’s body and keep on living.
Growlanser I
In the new route of Growlanser I, there was a group that came from the world of growlanser III who came to tell that their world was saved, but there was no story about who saved the world.
Growlanser II The sense of justice
Slayn does not appear directly in the Growlanser II The sense of justice.
But there is minstrel who pass on legends about him.
He told the history of their ancestors who migrated from the old world to the new world through a space-time fusion project.
He also told that there were those who tried to hinder this project. Then he said that the hero was called Growlanser, which means “Light Savior”.
Growlanser ~Densetsu no Isan~
In Growlanser ~Densetsu no Isan~, Slayn appears in the last chapter of the interactive game: Mihatenu Yume (Unfulfilled Dream).
In this game he is not the protagonist. There are a few scenes that show him talking.
However, he is unvoiced and has no name, he is simply labeled “Leader”.
Because he had lost his spirit messenger powers, he was no longer able to see and talk to Rummy.
Slayn helped the new protagonist carry out his final mission to capture Clave.
Even though the new protagonist is making decisions, there are several scenes where Slayn leads the raid.
Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time
Slayn does not appear in the main story of Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time. However he appeared at the ending of its OVA as fan service along with several other characters from Growlanser I to III. Unlike Carmine & Wein, he only appears in the last second image with the other 4 protagonists.
Drama CD
In the Growlanser III Drama CD, Slayn sounds like a kind-hearted young man who cares about other people. He sounds a little careless and often acts hastily so he troubles his comrades. He is also impatient and often scolds Rummy for being too slow in speaking.

Ending
Basically, Slayn’s ending will be obtained by default. If the player does not meet the other ending criteria, then Slayn will go home alone to the mountain of darkness so that the ending will be shown. However, even if the ending criteria for other characters are met, players can also choose to have Slayn go home alone.
Seiyuu
Slayn is the silent protagonist in the main game. But in the drama cd, he is voiced by:
浪川大輔”Namikawa Daisuke” / Daisuke Namikawa
who also voiced Gray Gilbert. He is a popular voice actor who often plays important character roles in anime/game such as:
