Appearance
Wallace is 36 years old and his height is 194 cm tall.
He has long sand brown hair all back, and originally his eyes were brown too.
He’s wearing a black jacket and a white t-shirt on the inside, black trousers, and black shoes.
Magic eyes can be seen covering his eyes and a gold prosthetic hand is attached to his right hand.
Personality
Wallace is a man who has a lot of experience in warfare and often helps Carmine’s party in solving battle-related problems.
He loves hot springs and enjoys telling Carmine about his past while enjoying the hot springs at Comusprings.
According to him himself, his abilities have decreased to less than half of his prime.
But he has experience, a high sense of hearing and smell that is able to cover his vision. In addition, the eyesight was restored to the extent that a human figure could be slightly seen by the artificial eyes.
He still has the power to destroy a huge crystal with a single blow. His weapons are a boomerang sword (a throwing sword that connects two swords) and a prosthetic hand (a so-called knuckle). He can’t use magic at all, but he can rely on boomerang sword for indirect attacks with extremely high hitting strength.
He seems to be on bad terms with the other vice leader named “Gamlan”, but he seems to be on good terms with another vice leader named “Weber”.
Background
Wallace was the vice leader of the “Belger’s Mercenary Corps”, he left the corps to find the missing captain Belger. He started a wandering journey and earned the nickname “Wandering Swordsman”.
However, he lost his eyesight and right arm when attacked by a mysterious masked men he meets along the way two years before the main story.
Wallace asked Sandra to make him an artificial hand and artificial eyes, then Wallace accompanies Carmine on his journey to return the favor to Sandra.
Before losing his eyesight and right arm, he was so strong that he won the Grandshil’s fighting tournament – expert division and had been fighting for days in a single combat with the Imperial Knights of the time.
Growlanser I
After receiving the magic eye created by Sandra from Carmine, Wallace joins Carmine’s party to catch the criminal who stole Sandra’s magic research book. He also gave advice to Jurian who was hesitating in solving her problem. Then he helps Carmine in saving Sandra from being attacked and looking for an antidote for Sandra. From then on, he continued to be involved in various incidents involving Carmine.
When the party arrives at the mining town of Valmie, he tells a little about his former mercenary corps that was attacked by a monster that ended up causing his captain to disappear. In the crystal mine investigation, he was able to destroy the crystal wall in one hit using his artificial arm. After that, they found traces of the monster that had attacked his mercenary corps in the crystal mine.
When the party arrived at Galashiels, Wallace told a little about Weber and Gamlan, the other two former vice leaders of Belger mercenary corps. They discovered that Gamlan who represented the Burnshutain Kingdom is trying to forge an alliance with the Ranzack Kingdom through Weber.
Then, Carmine’s party broke their alliance by having both sides attack each other in war and cause misunderstandings. After that, Wallace represented the Kingdom of Rolandia to forge an alliance with the Kingdom of Ranzack through Weber.
In the Growshian disappearance incident, Wallace actively suspects Principal Maxwell, and realizes that their actions are always anticipated. After Wallace consults with Sandra, Carmine receives a magic jammer that blocks telepathy so they manage to uncover the perpetrators of the incident.
When Xenos attacks Carmine’s party, Wallace states that Xenos has been framed by Gamlan, and tells Gamlan’s true personality, moreover suspects that the previous attack on Karen was Gamlan’s doing. During the final battle against Gamlan, Gamlan expresses his desire to kill Wallace if he had not been watched by the captain back then. And Wallace doesn’t seem to hesitate in attacking Gamlan, and doesn’t grieve over Gamlan’s death.
When Ruise loses Growshu, Wallace seems a little emotional to save Ruise. Wallace is shocked when he discovers that Carmine is a clone of captain Belger, but chooses to support Carmine anyway. As Ruise recovered, Wallace looked overjoyed.
When Carmine’s body weakened, he opposed Carmine to continue fighting and suggested disbanding the party. But after seeing Carmine remain determined, he finally supported Carmine.
In both the original route and the new route, Wallace is a primary party member and cannot be reserved. In the space-time control tower, Wallace is seen able to fight equally against Justin in his human form.
Wallace is a little suspicious of Amelia as she acts apart from Justin, but is soon able to trust Amelia after she saves Carmine and starts helping them to stop Justin. When Amelia did elaborate explanations of ways and means to stop Justin, Wallace was able to understand them quickly and summed them up in simpler sentences.
After final battle, Wallace is promoted to a General in the Rolandia Kingdom and is in charge of maintaining security around the kingdom.
Growlanser II The sense of justice
In Growlanser II The sense of justice, Wallace is no longer acting with Carmine and seems to have served in his new position as General.
In the war against the Kingdom of Burnshtain, he led the army as a general and had enough faith in Carmine to carry out his mission alone.
Drama CD
In Growlanser I Drama CD, Wallace’s serious personality and likes to tell stories about his past as seen in the main game is used to create a comedy story. However, there is also one episode where Wallace behaves differently from the one seen in the main game, and becomes an unexpected character.
