Tachibana Yayoi “橘 弥生 (たちばな やよい)” is a member of the protagonist party in Growlanser III The dual darkness.

A party member who has a long attack range and is skilled in recovery magic.

She is a humble woman dressed as a miko (shrine maiden).

A moon spirit messenger who has a mission to find someone who disappeared suddenly from the moon shrine.

Personality

Yayoi has polite personality. She basically speaks using keigo (Honorific speech in Japanese), and pays respect during the final attack and at the end of battle.

She fights using a bow with a fairly long range of attack. In exchange for the extraordinary blow power, her ATW is also quite long.

As for magic, she is enriched especially for healing and support magics, and her max MP is extraordinary high.

Background

Yayoi came from another continent that is across the sea to the east of the Kirschland continent.

She is a moon spirit messenger with the ability to manipulate memories and emotions.

Moon Shrine is populated with primarily female messengers.

She is looking for a female spirit messenger named Simone who escaped from the moon shrine.

If that’s not possible, Yayoi will have to end Simone’s life.

Growlanser III The dual darkness

Yayoi met Slayn and the party for the first time in the town of Schwartzhaas, after the spacetime fusion project was completed, and after Randolf and his team’s attack on the Bornia village. She said that she was an expert in mind healing and offered to help Slayn.

When she checked Slayn’s memory, she saw Gray‘s past and after that she realized that there were 2 souls inside Slayn’s body. Then, Yayoi revealed her identity as moon spirit messenger and her objective in approaching Slayn was to find out the secret of Slayn’s dark aura which might be the key to stopping the abnormality in this world. After that, Yayoi separated from the party.

After the attack of the undead army on Falkenfreuk, Slayn and the party were reunited with Yayoi. She said that she sensed the presence of the person she was looking for in the city, but that she arrived too late. After learning that the water orb Simone was aiming for was at Annette‘s house, Yayoi joined the party,

After Michelle’s life support device had been repaired by Monica, Yayoi visited Michelle and said that Michelle has moon spirit messenger abilities that are stronger than her. After that Yayoi asked if Simone was Michelle’s mother’s name, then Michelle admitted it.

Yayoi asked Huey for help to send a message to Simone using the help of the wind spirit. The message contained a request to stop supporting Zion for Michelle’s sake. However, the message was ignored by Simone. Then, Yayoi resolved to put her all into battle.

Yayoi also helped Slayn when he was in the trial to learn The Art of Control. In the final battle against Simone, Yayoi thanks Slayn because they managed to stop Simone without having to kill her. After Zion’s defeat, she returned to a quiet life at moon shrine.

Growlanser ~Densetsu no Isan~

In Growlanser ~Densetsu no Isan~, Yayoi appears in the third chapter of the interactive game: Gekka Bijin (Queen of the Night​) and the last chapter: Mihatenu Yume (Unfulfilled Dream).

Her personality is still the same as seen in the main game. However, she is unvoiced.

In the third chapter, the new protagonist and party met Yayoi when they visited Falkenfreuk City.

She was on a training tip with Michelle.

After hearing Annette‘s story, Yayoi decided to help Annette’s investigation with the secret art of “moon reading”.

However, it can’t be done that often. Only on a full moon night, it can only be done once per dawn.

Through the moon reading, they learned that the person the new protagonist and party were chasing was in the port city, Delfinia.

In the last chapter, Yayoi joined the protagonist and party to catch the culprit.

Drama CD

In Growlanser III drama cd, she acts the same as seen in the main game, both in the serious story section and in the comedy section. Like in the main game, Yayoi appears with a mission to stop and bring home Simone who is the main enemy in the drama cd.
