Riviera Malius “リビエラ・マリウス” is a mysterious woman who is a member of the protagonist party in Growlanser II the sense of justice.

(She is known as “Riviera Marius” in localized version of Growlanser II The sense of justice)

She has a very high concern for her colleagues. But for some reason, she suppressed her concern for the people she just met.

Due to the mission she was on, she hid her identity.

Personality

Due to the trauma she experienced in the past, she tries not to get too involved with other people.

But while acting with Wein and the party, she slowly began to change without her noticing.

She is familiar with various knowledge, but has no experience in cooking. She fights using Rod, even though her weapon has a short range, she is skilled in various magic.

Background

She has a wealth of knowledge about roads along the border.

At first, Riviera claimed to be a resident of Rolandia who wanted to catch the perpetrators who destroyed the dam to pay for the losses suffered by her village.

However, her true identity is a human belonging to the Burnshtain intelligence division, and a former shadow knight.

Her sister, Olivia also belongs to the same division.

Growlanser II The sense of justice

Riviera’s first appearance was at the battle in Agriss Village. At first, Riviera suspected Wein and party of being the culprits who broke the dam, but thanks to Xenos explaining that it was a false accusation, their names were cleared.

Then Riviera joined the party to catch the real culprit. With Riviera’s knowledge, the party managed to enter Burnstein’s territory without passing the checkpoint.

When the party met Olivia near the royal capital, Wein wondered why Riviera who claimed to be a citizen of Rolandia could meet her sister in Burnshtain.

When the party visits Comsprings, there will be a scene where Rivera goes to the hot springs with Charlone. There, Riviera showed her concern for Charlone who lacked confidence in her appearance.

After the battle on the independence day, Riviera’s identity was revealed when the party faced King Eliotte.

Ever since her identity was revealed, she had become willing to tell Wein various things about herself. She was also gradually showing her emotions, especially her concern for Wein.

When Hans found out that Xenos was the killer of his grandfather, Riviera even defended Xenos by explaining Xenos’ circumstances back then. Even Olivia could notice the changes to Riviera just by looking at the report Riviera made.

In the “Diversion” mission, Riviera even actively suggested causing chaos from within the mercenary army which led to Wein deciding to infiltrate himself. While waiting for Wein who didn’t come back, Riviera showed extreme anxiety. When Ernest asked if it was concern for comrades or only for Wein, she didn’t answer while blushing.

Growlanser III The dual darkness

In Growlanser III The dual darkness, Riviera appears as an imported character.

However, she is not involved in the main story, and only appears a playable character.

Her presence or absence will not affect the main story.

Players can talk to her to hear a few words from her. But she is not voiced in this game.

Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time

Riviera does not appear in the main story of Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time. However she appeared at the ending of its OVA as fan service along with several other characters from Growlanser I to III.
