No personality is set.
All his speech and conduct are left to the player.
His weapons are a sword, a spear and a bow.
The sword can be used unconditionally, but the spear and bow can be used depending on the character making.
Also, if he cannot use the spear or bow as a result of making it, he can use it by generating a certain event.
He is an all-rounder who can handle both close combat and magic because he can acquire various magics although he is not Growshian.
Background
When he was a child, he received the extreme prophecies of “darkness that destroys the world” and “light that saves the world”, so he was raised only in the royal capital Rosalia by the intention of Sandra, who was worried about the future.
His true identity is a flesh golem (magical life form) created by Gevel by the blood and flesh of the resistance leader Belger, who has rebelled against the Growshian ruling in the past.
He was sent as a spy to Rolandia instead of abandoned.
With the “original” Belger’s talent and the strengthening of physical ability by Gevel cells, he has a fighting ability that surpasses that of ordinary people.
Growlanser I
As Carmine grows up, Sandra tells him to “experience the outside world,” and the story begins when he leaves Rosalia. On the way he goes through various incidents starting from his mother being poisoned, so he has to meet Featherian to get the antidote, which results in him having to win a fighting tournament.
After winning the fighting tournament, he continues to be involved in various major incidents. One of them is to solve a war involving 3 countries. Later he discovered that the war was plotted by a monster named Gevel. And then, he was involved in the investigation of Gevel and it was there that he found his true identity.
Since he cannot live unless he continues to receive the “wave of Gevel”, his creator, he is destined to gradually weaken and eventually dissolve if Gevel is defeated.
Since he was a child, Ruise, the Growshian who is a presence that blocks the waves of Gevel, was nearby, so he grew up without problems even if he received only a small amount of Gevel’s waves, and even if he did not continue to receive Gevel’s waves for a long time. It was possible for him to live for a while.
On the contrary, the clones who were acting as Gevel’s private soldiers seem to have disappeared immediately when Gevel disappeared and the supply of waves was cut off.
At the later part of the story, his body continued to weaken until it almost reached its limit, but with Belger’s Gevel waves combined with the Power Stone, he was able to recover for a while. Although he has no life expectancy, he fought against Venzel to the end and led mankind to victory.
On the new route, he handed the Power Stone to Melfi and Belger was killed at an earlier stage, so when his body weakened, he was helped in a different way. On this route, she was saved by Amelia by sharing her Gevel wave. Then, Amelia made a ring that emitted Gevel waves, so Carmine could last 2-3 years. In the same way, they managed to save Richart. With cooperation of Amelia & Richart, they managed to thwart Justin’s plot and defeat him.
After the last battle (whether against Venzel or Justin), Queen Stella used the Power Stone, and many humans wanted to help him (him & Richart if it is in new route), so he could live without receiving Gevel waves, and he became able to continue living with the one he loves. It was not clear who he chose as a partner at the end of the story, and it is left to the player choice.
Since then, he has made a name for himself as a knight of Rolandia, and has been on duty in various places.
Growlanser II The sense of justice
In the sequel, Growlanser II The sense of justice, he is 18 years old and treated as a good senior of the main character, Wein. Carmine is called by the citizens as the savior of light, Growlanser for his achievements, and now is a special envoy of Rolandia Kingdom.
This time he only used the sword and he is a well-balanced warrior who uses his sword as a weapon and can also handle recovery magic.
Since the default name was not set in the previous work, the name can be changed in this work as well (JP Version).
He has retired from the role of silent protagonist and can speak of his own accord.
Even so, he still seemed to have a calm demeanor.
In addition, he has a strong self-confidence, and has a strong personality that does not lose his composure in any situation.
Even after he got the same body as a normal human, but the Gevel cells are still alive (from the voice actor’s comment in “Growlanser II”). In Fact, there is a scene where he can feel the existence of Gevas, which can be said to be Gevel’s original.
In the final battle of Growlanser II, he told Maximilian Schneider, “I didn’t save the world. I just protected the place of my loved ones.”
Growlanser III The dual darkness
In Growlanser III The dual darkness, Carmine appears as an imported character.
However, he is not involved in the main story, and only appears a playable character.
His presence or absence will not affect the main story.
Players can talk to him to listen a few words from him.
But he is not voiced in this game.
Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time
Carmine does not appear in main story of Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time. However he appeared at the ending of its OVA as fan service along with several other characters from Growlanser I to III.
Growlanser VI Precarious world
Carmine does not appear directly in the Growlanser VI Precarious world. But in Yurry‘s side quest, there is an old geezer who tells a fairy tale about the legend of Growlanser.
Then, he said:
“In a country, there was a man who has heterochromia eyes. He was received opposite prophecy, whether he will save the world or destroy the world in the future. And then the country’s famous witch sent a fairy to watch over the man. It is said that the man travels, and meets various friends, then managed to magnificently defeat the bad fate that was given to him, and led the world to peace.”
He also told that there are several endings of this legend. The man in the story has the same criteria as Carmine. In the Growlanser VI Drama CD there is also a comedy where Merklich imitates Carmine.
Chaos Wars
Carmine appears in another game “Chaos Wars” in chapter 2 act 2.
When he was on trip to visit Burnshutain as special envoy, he was attacked by glosh.
Then, the next thing he knew was that he was in the middle of a snowy area called “Shalulu Island – Ice Island”.
In this game, Carmine is given an exclusive skill that belongs only to him called “Surround Attack”.
Note: The game itself informed that “this story has no relations with any existing works” at the beginning of the game.
Novel Version
In the novel version, he was named Dylan. After the war ended, he received news of the Shadow Knights’ revival. Then, he tried to prevent war from happening again.
His name was changed to Carmine since his appearance in Growlanser II which was released 16 months later.
Drama CD
In Growlanser I Drama CD, he doesn’t sound like the personality seen in Growlanser II. Because the content on the drama cd itself is not a serious story, but comedy story, Carmine sounds like an ordinary young man his age.
