Corin

Corin “コリン” is a fairy who lives with friends in the forest.

(She is known as Korin in localized version)

As per Growlanser tradition, She is also in charge of being the spokesperson for the protagonist in Growlanser V Generations and mascot of his party.

Appearance

Corin has light purple eyes and blue twin tail hair with ribbon that has yellow bells.

She is wearing a bluish white dress, blue shorts, and a green necklace.

On her right wrist is a tattoo, while on her left wrist is a bracelet with the same bells as her ribbon.

Personality

Corin is a cheerful, honest, energetic, and innocent fairy. She is full of curiosity and always takes a deep interest in anything.

She has a side similar to Tipi who often reprimands anyone who does bad or evil, but she doesn’t kick.

She also has an innocent side similar to Rummy who often immediately believes what the protagonist says until other characters like Fanil or Chriass tell her the truth, and she will get angry later.

In the world of Growlanser V and VI, fairies are depicted as innocent existences and will not lie to anyone. Even among all the fairies that appeared in Growlanser V and VI, Corin depicted this side the most.

In addition, Corin said that fairies could see time other than now. She had a hard time expressing it and ended up explaining it vaguely. Later. this side of the fairies will be explained better by Yurry to Merklich and others in Growlanser VI that fairies can sense the flow of time.

When starting research with Fanil, Fanil’s first experiment failed. Since then, Corin often bullied Fanil for being careless.

Background

In Fanil’s Role, Corin met Fanil who was looking for a fairy to help with her research. When she was attacked by a monster, she was saved by Fanil, Chriass, and Alessa.

After that, she agreed to go with Fanil and the others and said goodbye to Matron Fairy.

Then the Matron Fairy gave her permission and said that since Corin originally had a mission, maybe she would be able to fulfill it by going with the humans.

She would later reveal that her mission was to find a Yūsha (Brave).

When she helped Fanil, they chatted while exchanging information where Fanil explained about humans, while Corin explained about fairies.

After that, she somehow followed Zeonsilt, who just became a member of the PMB, and has been with him ever since a certain incident.

Growlanser V Generations

Sometime after Main’s Role started, and Zeonsilt joined the team, Corin was still following Fanil. After returning from the Neylern army’s infiltration incident in the Saunail Ruins and reporting it to Eizack, Corin became interested in Zeonsilt and moved to follow him.

However at this time, she was still frequently seen switching between following Fanil and Zeonsilt. When in battle, she would follow Zeonsilt, but outside of battle, she would follow Fanil.

She’s been seen following Zeonsilt even outside of battles and events (break time) since Randy appeared in PMB with party, but not permanently, sometimes she was still seen following Fanil, but from this point on he was more often seen following Zeonsilt.

Corin met other fairies in different locations and learned about the fairy contest. When she met with Yurry in Geilenach, she challenged Yurry to compete who would find Yūsha first. From then on, she was more actively looking for a strong person. When she met Zeakvalt on the ship, she learned about different types of strength.

When the party found out about the secrets of Zeonsilt’s body, Corin was the only one who didn’t leave him. She became the key to succeeding the time-freezing spell on Zeonsilt to save him. Since then she has been with Zeonsilt to keep the spell active.

Players are free to choose whether they want to help Corin win the fairy contest or not. But winning the finals of the Fairy Contest is essential to get Corin’s ending. In addition, it is a condition to obtain the strongest armor of Zeonsilt (equipment, status, and skill plates of Zeonsilt will be carried over to the next work Growlanser VI as it is).

At the Friendship Medal Event, she looked happy when Zeonsilt gave her the medal. But since the medal is too big for her, she asked Zeonsilt to give it to another girl. Then she said her desire to continue to be with Zeonsilt even after the way to cure his body had been found.

Even though Corin doesn’t kick the protagonist like Tipi, Corin was seen attacking the Dungeon Lady when Corin was upset because of Dungeon Lady. Because of this, Dungeon Lady became traumatized by Corin, and she would later give Corin a certain title in Growlanser VI.

After defeating the last boss, Corin was seen to be with Zeonsilt in whichever ending he chose.

Growlanser I

In Growlanser I psp version, a fairy out of 5 fairies in the fairy cafe appears in the form of Corin wearing her maid costume.

She also introduced herself by the name “Corin”.

As always, she still showed her competitive attitude with Yurry.

In this work, she is not voiced, but player can enjoy conversing with her. If player continues to make the right choices, she will give a reward in the last event.

Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time

Corin does not appear in the main story of Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time. However she appeared in shadow at the ending of its OVA as trailer of Growlanser V along with several other characters.

Growlanser V Gaiden

In Growlanser V Gaiden, Corin showed up to visit Alessa who was working hard on Queen Screaper’s vitality-absorbing device.

Seeing that the lights in Alessa’s lab were on late into the night, Corin checked on her.

Without feeling sorry, Corin innocently excused himself to enter Alessa’s lab.

Corin, who realized Alessa’s determination, answered all of Alessa’s doubts through straight and innocent answers.

Without realizing it, they spent the whole time talking until morning.

But thanks to that, all of Alessa’s doubts were resolved. She changed her mind and renewed her determination.

Growlanser VI Precarious world

Continuing the previous work, Corin also appears in Growlanser VI Precarious world.

Not much has changed in her.

This time too, she was seen frequently following Zeonsilt.

However, since in Growlanser VI Zeonsilt is no longer a Silent Protagonist, Corin ended up retiring from her role as spokesperson for Zeonsilt and she became silent in battle.

Although at the beginning of the game, players can load save data from Growlanser V, but Corin’s data is not included, so Corin can’t use her costumes from previous work.

In Dungeon Lady’s side quest, she was referred to as a 青い悪魔”Aoi Akuma” (blue devil) by the Dungeon Lady.

If player successfully completes the Zeonsilt’s side quest and he is healed, Corin will leave him and go with Fanil.

Chaos Wars

Corin appears in another game “Chaos Wars” in chapter 4 act 1 with Zeonsilt. If player use the “Two Spears Key” obtained after going through several battles in this chapter, Zeonsilt will appear and join the party.

Note: The game itself informed that “this story has no relations with any existing works” at the beginning of the game.

Drama CD

Corin appears in the drama cd of Growlanser V and VI. In the drama cd, she acts the same as seen in the main game, both in the serious story section and in the comedy section.

In Growlanser V Drama CD, She was reprimanded by Zeonsilt for being over-excited, and she also reprimanded Zeonsilt for being too calm. This scene was also seen when Zeonsilt and Corin first visited Monopolis in Growlanser VI.

In Growlanser VI Drama CD, she also still showed her competitive attitude with Yurry until the end. At the end of the session, her voice actor also stated about it, then she wished she could see scene of Corin on good terms with Yurry.
