Hofman “ホフマン” is former Second Lieutenant of the Fomeros Army.

He is the younger brother of the presidential candidate for the country of Fomeros. He was framed by his superior to defame his brother.

He was one of the vanguard-type member of protagonist party.

Personality

Contrary to his appearance, Hofman is a gentle man. But when he was confronted by Wellber, he let out his anger.

He fights using shamshir. His reach is the shortest among the avant-garde characters, but his movement speed is fast.

On the way to Mount Jiant, Rukias asked how to grow up like Hofman, and Hofman explained his life since childhood and the existence of his brother as his rival.

He is a typical avant-garde type that has an extremely low INT and is not good at magic, has high HP, high defense power, and high attack power, so he has the ability to specialize in close combat.

Background

Since Dietrich, Hofman’s brother is running for the next president, Hofman and Dietrich are in a hostile relationship with the current president.

Due to a scandal to kicks his brother down, Hofman is trapped by his superior, Wellber, and is chased by Fomeros army as a traitor.

He was ordered by Wellber to protect supplies that actually didn’t exist.

When the foes and comrades are dead, Wellber falsely accuses Hofman of smuggling supplies into enemy troops, as supplies were not found.

Since he thought he would be unfairly punished if he was caught, he hid himself in search of evidence of his innocence.

Growlanser VI Precarious world

Hofman appeared for the first time in the main game when Merklich and party returned from the Goatland Continent for the first time via transgate. At that time he was helping merchants from bandits attacks. He seemed unwilling to be found by the Fomeros army. When the party visited him at the inn in Leystan, Hofman easily explained his circumstances.

When Wendy parted away from the party to save the Hingistan army from the Admonisher’s attack, Hofman joined the party to save the Fomeros army. Hofman suggested a plan to evacuate the Fomeros army by using himself as bait by taking advantage of his status as a fugitive.

After successfully making the Fomeros troops retreat, Hofman returned to Leystan. However he was found by the soldiers, did not have time to wait for Merklich and Rukias, so only left a letter to say thank you.

After the raid on the secret base of the resistance forces, Merklich and the party reunited with Hofman in Shizāz Village. However, due to the party changing history in Goatland continent later, the incident of the attack on the Fomeros army turned into an incident of saving Hofman from the pursuit of the Fomeros army, and Hofman’s memory was changed.

Eventually, Hofman would ask a place related to the keywords “ship” and “harbor” other than Shizāz Village because he was looking for someone who was missing. When Shizaz Village is attacked, Hofman rejoins the party and protects the village. After that, he continued to assist Merklich and the party in conquering the Hingistan Giant.

As the party discussed how to destroy Dragon Point Towers at 4 locations, Hofman recounted his situation then suggested helping him prove his innocence. Thus, his brother would win the presidential nomination, and Hofman would advise his brother to stop interfering with civil war in Hingistan.

When the party investigates the black market in Royferon, Hofman discovers that the products sold there are smuggled military supplies. After that Hofman offered himself to be captured so the party could infiltrate the headquarters of the Fomeros army.

While Hofman was being interrogated by the Base Commander, Merklich examined the supply transport documents and found evidence that Hofman was innocent. Then, the party raided the black market with the Base Commander and captured Wellber and his subordinates.

After that the suspicion towards Hofman was cleared, and the party received cooperation from the Base Commander at a critical time with Hofman as a liaison.

Drama CD

In Growlanser VI Drama CD, Hofman barely got a scene to appear. He only appeared in Chapter Private Monopolis Academy 1 as P. E. teacher. While the his voice actor often participates as a narrator at the beginning and end of the chapters.
