Huey
Huey Foster “ヒューイ・フォスター” is a cheerful man who speaks with Kansai dialect, and the mood maker in the party.
He’s known as “Hugh” in localized version.
It seems that some secret is hidden behind his easygoing personality.
He is one of the protagonist’s most important supporting characters and a fairly symbolic character in Growlanser III The dual darkness with his kansai dialect.

Appearance
Huey is 20 years old and his height is 185cm.
He is a man with long brown hair.
He’s wearing a moss green outfit and brown shoes.
Personality
Huey is a character who stands out for speaking the Kansai dialect. Huey loves laughter and believes that laughter is indispensable for making the world peaceful.
He can also see Rummy, which is invisible to ordinary humans. He later teaches Rummy a classic manzai.
When she first heard the way he spoke, Annette had a hard time understanding it. Then Huey tried to speak in normal Japanese, but found himself unsuitable for speaking in that style.
Behind his easygoing character, he is a person who thinks logically in dealing with problems. He is also a person who is sensitive to environmental situations and the conditions of the people around him.
However, unlike Chriass, Huey devotes himself as a supporting character to the protagonist. Even if he gives good suggestions or ideas when dealing with problems, he always leaves the final decision to Slayn. So he does not determine the movement of the story and continues to support the protagonist until the end.
He fights using a long sword. Although the power of his slash is less than that of Annette and Slayn, he has more attack variety than Monica. He is a well-balanced versatile warrior who can use magic. The only party member who can learn teleport (can move one ally to any coordinate freely). However, this requires a hidden event and cannot be used in some event battles.
Background
Huey’s true identity is a Lord candidate for the Wind Spirit Messenger.
He is undergoing a final trial to become a Wind Lord. The final trial requires him to live for 3 years amongst humans and helping people.
He was chosen as a candidate by the elders because he had talent.
In that trial, he was not allowed to use his abilities for his own benefit nor was he allowed to reveal his identity as a spirit messenger.
If it is violated, then he is disqualified.
Growlanser III The dual darkness
In Bibliostock, Huey approaches Slayn suspecting he is a famous spirit messenger because he traveled with a fairy, but is disappointed to learn that Slayn has lost his memory. After that, Huey offered to accompany Slayn and his party with his intentions hidden.
When Slayn talked to Monica’s grandfather in Space-time Tontrol Tower, Huey quickly understood that Monica’s grandfather wanted to talk about something that could not be said in front of her. Huey cleverly distanced Monica from the conversation by asking her the function of certain device in the room.
When the Featherian Queen asked if the party wanted to go to another world through the space-time fusion project, Huey refused on the grounds that he could not abandon this world. Then he bid farewell to Slayn. However, in the fight against Shion for the first time in Magic Barrier Generator No. 3, Huey said that he believed that Slayn would come to help them.
When Gray regained control of his body, Huey immediately noticed the strangeness and immediately intercepted Gray who he thought was going to kill President Burns. But after knowing Gray’s true intentions, Huey let him go.
On a mission to pass through the fortress on the mountain path, Huey helped the party by using his spirit messenger ability and asking the wind spirits to blow the wind. However he did not reveal his identity and said that it was a wind magic. Huey manages to prevent Rummy from telling the truth by blowing her up with wind.
After Barbara’s troops attack the Burns residence and the water crystal is taken by Clive, Huey decides to reveal his identity and ends up being disqualified from the Lord candidate. At Schwartzhaas, he met another Wind Lord candidate. He is angry with Huey for revealing his identity so that he ends up failing the trial. But Huey states that saving the world is more important and can’t wait for the trial to end.
After some time, that man who is Huey’s rival met Slayn at Bibliostock and complained about Huey’s matter. Then he told Slayn about his true desire to compete with Huey. Hearing that, Huey challenged him to a match on the spot right then and there.
After the match, Huey declares that the match ends in a draw, but Huey’s rival declares that he has lost since Huey was able to choose to save the world despite failing to become Lord. After that Huey is taught a secret art and became able to use “Teleport”.
When Granford reveals that Slayn is the Dark Lord, Huey is surprised but immediately convinced that normal spirit messengers don’t usually travel with a fairy. Huey also helped Slayn when he was in the trial to learn The Art of Control.
Huey always appears in the endings where Slayn’s spirit is transferred to Homunculus and delivers farewell words from Rummy to Slayn who can no longer see and hear Rummy.
Growlanser ~Densetsu no Isan~
In Growlanser ~Densetsu no Isan~, Huey appears in the last chapter of the interactive game: Mihatenu Yume (Unfulfilled Dream).
His personality is still the same as seen in the main game. However, he is unvoiced.
When he met the new protagonist and party, he brought a surprise by bringing them together with the old protagonist, Slayn.
Even though he knew things through the wind spirit, he failed to know that Yayoi and Michelle were also planning to join forces with the new protagonist.
He was instrumental in finding Clave’s last hideout and guiding the party there.
Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time Return
In Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time Return, Huey appears in the story of chapter: Spirits.
His personality is still the same as seen in the main game, and he is voiced by the same seiyuu.
Depending on the choice, he may appear as an enemy or an ally.
On the route to the true ending, Huey was attacked by Gloria.
However, he was rescued by the appearance of Crevaniel and Monica, and he joined them.
Huey is one of the important factors in determining whether or not Crevaniel can return to his world.
Drama CD
In Growlanser III drama cd, he acts the same as seen in the main game, both in the serious story section and in the comedy section. This story shows the part of Huey who likes to tease Monica. In the comedy section, Huey who speaks the Kansai dialect sounds very suitable.
