Crevaniel Solo “クレヴァニール・ソロ” is the protagonist of Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time.

(He is known as “Crevanille” in localized version)

When he was young, he was taken in by the Alten Schwart mercenaries.

He spent about 15 years as a member of the Alten Schwart mercenaries.

He is said to be the key to stopping the angels. The key for humans to survive.

Personality

Just like the Carmine, no personality is set, and all his speech and conduct are left to the player, and he doesn’t speak.

His weapon is a sword. Since there is no character make in this work, he is the only protagonist throughout the series whose abilities don’t change due to character make.

All magic, knacks, and skills can be learned, except for a few skills such as “indirect range increase”.

His strongest skill, “Sword Dance”, is a technique that launches physical attacks on all enemies on the entire map at once.

Background

Crevaniel is a ruin child and is said to be “the key to save the world”. In the setting, his age is unknown (about 17-19 years old).

He is Blunteer’s younger brother, and like his older brother, he is an “angelic child” who underwent remodeling surgery to defeat angels.

After awakening, the village where he lived was attacked by Vester, and since he fled with Decsen, he spent about 15 years as a member of the Alten Schwart mercenary corps.

Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time

When Alten Schwart’s mercenary corps was carrying out their mission on Lamplast Island, there were suddenly many explosions on the battlefield. As they left the island, Crevaniel saw a figure in the sky with 6 wings.

After Decsen decided to separate from the mercenary corps, Crevaniel followed Decsen because he was an important figure for what Decsen wanted to do.

As they were about to enter the ruins, Vester came to kill them. When Decsen was seriously injured, an angel came and attacked them. With his remaining strength, Decsen managed to save Crevaniel from an angel’s attack.

After Crevaniel regained consciousness, he and Rems decided to enter the ruins. When they entered the deepest part, Crevaniel suddenly spat out blood wings and fainted. Crevaniel and Rems were then captured by Dulkheim soldiers. After the interrogation was over, they enlisted in Dulkheim army.

It was the place where Crevaniel reunited with Blunteer, met Vallery for the first time, and where his familiar was born. But at that time, Crevaniel didn’t remember that Blunteer was his older brother. While there, Crevaniel carried out various missions such as escorting Roomise, rescuing Frane, and fighting against Munzer.

However, his time there was not long. When Dulkheim used the ruin children for cruel experiments, Crevaniel and the others decided to leave Dulkheim. After a long tiring journey, Crevaniel and the others arrived at Marcurey.

To return the favor for saving them, Crevaniel and the others fought against Dulkheim army to protect the city where Eraiza lived. They were eventually recognized as Marcurey heroes. But in exchange, Crevaniel lost his familiar who had to lose her life to protect him.

After a few days, Frane and Rems managed to create a familiar of the same type. Even so, that familiar wasn’t the same existence as the previous one.

After recruiting Maggy, Crevaniel and the others’ next goal was to defeat the angels. They retrieved a small spellcanon from the ruins of a former anti-angel laboratory and handed it to Maggy. Using that, the party managed to defeat an angel who turned out to be a replica of Youriel.

In order to defeat Achiel, one of the original angels, Crevaniel and party returned to the ruins where Decsen died. There, they reunited with Blunteer and learned the truth about angelic children and angels. After defeating Achiel and seeing the memories of the angels, Crevaniel and the party actually inherited the will of the angels.

Crevaniel and the others next goal was to eliminate all summoners and magic from the world. The Party managed to prevent Vester from teaching Marcurey soldiers summoning magic. After that, they destroyed Valcaneer spellcannon. As for Dulkheim, they managed to eliminate all of the summoners including Rudvich, even with the burden of having to kill Bower and Roomise along the way.

During the last holiday, the character that Crevaniel chooses to spend the day will determine whose ending the player can see. At the end of the last day of vacation, Crevaniel received a bracelet from his comrades.

After the final battle, Crevaniel activated the device to remove magic from the world. As a result, he got involved and disappeared from the world and people’s memories as if he had never existed. After a year had passed, he returned to meet the chosen one in the last vacation.

Growlanser Aratanaru Densetsu

In Growlanser Aratanaru Densetsu, Crevaniel appears in one of the side stories: Leona no orushuban (Leona’s stay at home).

As the title suggests, this episode focuses on Leona’s story.

Leona, who is being left at the villa, thinks of ways to get more attention from Crevaniel so she can get lots of acorns.

Crevaniel appears at the end of the story to sample Leona’s cooking. However he fainted from the overwhelming taste.

Even so, Crevaniel appreciated Leona’s effort by eating as much as she could.

In this story, Crevaniel is not voiced. But many expressions are shown so that players can imagine what he wants to say.

Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time Return

Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time Return tells the story of Crevaniel’s 1 blank year after defeating the final boss until before his return in the endings of Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time.

After Crevaniel activated the device to remove magic from the world, he was thrown into the space-time gap. There was nothing but darkness there.

After some time, he suddenly met a mysterious woman. She helped Crevaniel get out of the space-time gap.

However, Crevaniel wasn’t sent to his original world, but to the Kirschland continent (the world of Growlanser III The dual darkness).

There, he met Monica.

After explaining the situation he was in, Monica decided to help him return to his original world.

Through Huey, Crevaniel learned that his existence could destroy their world. He also found out that the woman who sent him there was called Gloria and what was her goal from Simone.

Then, Monica and Huey with the help of the Power Stone performed a ritual to send Crevaniel back to his world.

This disc also shows Crevaniel’s story after his return, the story after each character’s ending. This game is also bundled with an OVA that tells the world situation including Crevaniel and the others after the war.

Growlanser IV OVER RELOADED

Original Route

This route more or less tells everything that happened in the Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time.

However, due to the involvement of additional characters, there are several additional stories on original route that don’t exist in the PS2 version.

As soon as the player enters the original route, Crevaniel will have a dream about Vester announcing that several characters (additional characters) have been removed.

Crevaniel will also witness Tricia’s death with no option to save her.

New Routes

Growlanser IV OVER RELOADED contains 2 new routes, an extended route based on the original story, and the Dulkheim route that was created by ignoring the original story.

1. Extended Route

In addition to the additional stories, there are some changes. On this route, Crevaniel is able to remove summoners’ abilities without killing them. So that many characters like Roomise and Bower were spared from death.

After the last fight, Crevaniel was spared from being sent into the space-time gap.

Instead, he was helped by Blunteer when he fainted after the last fight and was sent back to his original world.

Due to that, this route has nothing to do with Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time Return.

After the final battle on this route, Crevaniel spent a year traveling the world on diplomatic business to various countries. He then came back and appeared at the ending without any serious drama.

2. Dulkheim Route

After his eighth vacation, Crevaniel received a letter from Rudvich containing an apology and negotiations.

Crevaniel then parted ways with some of his comrades and returned to Dulkheim.

There, he carried out various missions in which he had to fight against his former comrades in Marcurey.

There are several different endings prepared.

However, there is no romantic ending with a certain character like in the original and extended routes.

Depending on the choice, Crevaniel can end up as the dead man, the criminal, the hero’s comrade, a fugitive, president, or the world conqueror.

Drama CD

In the Growlanser IV Drama CD, Crevaniel sounds like an arrogant young man, but he cares about his comrades. He is slightly shaken to learn that Blunteer is his older brother, but he shows concern at Blunteer’s death.

He also sounds calm in all situations and is able to lead the party with precise command. However, he also possessed extremely high individual combat ability. Even though he couldn’t win against Blunteer in a one-on-one fight.
