Leona “レオナ” is a girl from the Pesac tribesman, people who have some cat-like characteristics, but they don’t want to be compared to cats.

Leona is 14 years old and her height is 148cm. She has golden brown eyes and long hair in an orange-brown color with bright highlights.

Cat ears appear on top of her head, and she also has a long, curved tail.

She is wearing a tight leopard-pattern outfit, paired with a short pink jacket with white fur on the sleeves.

Personality

Leona gets angry if she is treated like a cat. She loves meat and hates vegetables. Her culinary preferences are unclear, but she seems to prefer Marcurey cuisine (it is explained that Marcurey cuisine uses a lot of meat).

She loves drawing, and draws pictures of Crevaniel and the others, which clearly reflect her personality and mental age. In the PSP version, her drawings (the doodles posted on the bulletin board) have been redrawn, and her drawing skills have improved.

She also has a lisp and pronounces her own name, Leona, as “Leonya” (“Meowna” in the localized version), which is why the party members call her “Leonya”. Being spoiled by party members makes her feel like she’s being treated like a pet, which makes her feel alienated.

Leona is fast and good at close combat. her weapon is claws. She has the best frontline skills among the party members, but her attack waiting time is long and she is not good at magic. Her limit ability is suited to quick attacks.

Background

The Pesac people are not a race of this world, but a race from another world, but Leona was suddenly swallowed up by a black hole that appeared and came to this world.

Where Leona comes from is an open field everywhere, where she can chase animals all over the place.

Humans were rarely seen there. Therefore, she found it strange to see a human building consisting of several rooms inside.

Pesach women have a tradition of serving their masters and receiving acorns as a reward. According to her, if you pick up acorns and increase the number yourself, you will be “too scared to tell anyone.”

Therefore, to get Leona’s ending, you must have her in your party, clear the event battle, and give her a certain number of acorns.

Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time

Leona first appeared when Crevaniel and his party were escorting Eraiza to Fandelcia with Crestfer. Leona hid in the ruins with the large statue. When Crevaniel found her, she immediately ran away.

In the other ruins on the way back from Fandelcia, the team met Leona again. Leona, who was afraid of humans, panicked and activated the ruins’ traps to escape.

Leona’s next appearance was when Crevaniel and the team were on a mission to Kaufman Waterfall. Leona, who was being chased by monsters, fell in front of Crevaniel and the party and couldn’t move. After defeating the monsters, the team checked on Leona and was very surprised by her appearance. After a while, soldiers arrived and took her to a hospital in Ordinale.

When the party returned to Eraiza’s villa, Leona was waiting for them. She came to repay the favor because the party had saved her, so she joined the party. After resolving the issue of Leona feeling like she was being treated like a pet by the party members, Leona began calling Crevaniel her master.

As she looked at the Obrion flower planted by Revan and listened to where he had gotten it, Leona came to realize the possibility that her brother, Merrick, had also been stranded in this world, and she began to worry about him.

After obtaining information about Merrick at the Porak branch store in Ordinale, Leona and party immediately went to meet him in the ruined village. However, due to having been deceived by humans in the past, Merrick no longer trusted humans and advised Leona to leave Crevaniel and her party.

While they were arguing, Merrick suddenly fainted due to Balsa fever. To help Merrick, Crevaniel and the party reclaimed the stolen Obrion Bulb. After recovering, Merrick began to trust Crevaniel and the party, and supported Leona’s decision to stay with them.

When Deligne came to check on Crevaniel after the caterpillar incident, Leona learned the term girlfriend and learned many things about lovers from Deligne.

During the last vacation, Crevaniel asked Leona out on a date. They had a meal together, then spent some time at the harbor, then looked at the flowers in the city. She then expressed her concern about what would happen to her when the spell was removed. She was worried that she would be returned to her world and separated from Crevaniel.

After the magic was successfully removed, for a moment, Leona was forgotten by everyone there except Frane. But after a while, everyone remembered her again.

Growlanser Aratanaru Densetsu

In Growlanser Aratanaru Densetsu, Leona appears in two side stories: Leona no orushuban (Leona’s stay at home), and Frane no kaiga kyōshitsu (Frane’s Painting Class).

1. Leona no orushuban (Leona’s stay at home)

This episode tells the story of when Crevaniel and the party were away and Leona was left behind at the villa.

Leona, who felt that she was rarely included in the party, thought of ways to get invited more often.

After thinking long and hard, Leona came up with an idea to make a dish for Crevaniel.

The idea was to create human dishes using ingredients from the Pesac cuisine.

After returning from hunting various insects, Leona began cooking. When Crevaniel and the party returned, Leona immediately served him her special homemade soup. Crevaniel, unable to escape, ended up eating it and passing out on the spot.

According to Leona, Crevaniel fainted because he enjoyed the food too much.

2. Frane no kaiga kyōshitsu (Frane’s Painting Class)

This episode tells the story of Frane teaching Eraiza how to paint. In the latter half of the story,In the latter half of the story, Leona showed up and evaluated Eraiza’s painting.

Leona said that she had seen the scene Eraiza described.

She described Eraiza’s painting as a moment when a volcano was erupting.

Because she loved the painting so much, she went to show it to everyone.

Eraiza, who was very embarrassed, asked Frane to get rid of the evidence and tried her best to stop Leona.

And the story ended with Eraiza chasing after Leona.

Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time Return

In Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time Return, Leona appears in the GLIV Return section, in the third chapter: 帰還”Kikan” (Return).

This story is a direct sequel to the ending scene in Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time.

Some time after Crevaniel returned to his original era, he and Leona went to Maggy’s village to visit Merrick.

When they arrived at the village, Merrick was nowhere to be seen. He hasn’t been seen since Crevaniel disappeared due to magic removal.

However, instead of Merrick, they met a girl.

It turns out she was saved by Merrick when she was attacked by a monster. Since then, they got along well.

The girl often visited Merrick until the moment he suddenly disappeared.

Hearing that, Leona was convinced that Merrick had returned to their home world and felt relieved.

The girl wanted to hand over Merrick’s left-behind cloth, but Leona asked her to keep it. Instead, Leona asked the girl to be her friend.

Growlanser IV OVER RELOADED

Original Route

This route more or less tells everything that happened in the Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time.

Due to the involvement of additional characters, there are several additional stories on original route that don’t exist in the PS2 version.

However, whether Leona will be present in the additional events depends on the player bringing her in the party or not.

There is a slight change in the ending as well. They changed Leona’s CG which depicts her sleeping on Crevaniel’s lap under a tree.

New Routes

Growlanser IV OVER RELOADED contains 2 new routes, an extended route based on the original story, and the Dulkheim route that was created by ignoring the original story.

1. Extended Route

There are no much changes to Leona’s events on this route.

All the conditions needed to get Leona’s ending are the same.

As for the new events, it’s the same as the original route, whether Leona will be present in the new events depends on the player bringing her in the party or not.

Since Crevaniel did not disappear after the final battle, a different ending was prepared, but with a shorter duration and without CG.

Crevaniel returned to Marcurey and reunited with Leona without any serious drama. Due to that, this route has nothing to do with Growlanser IV Wayfarer of the time Return.

2. Dulkheim Route

After his eighth vacation, Crevaniel received a letter from Rudvich containing an apology and negotiations.

Crevaniel then parted ways with some of his comrades and returned to Dulkheim.

One of the comrades that was left behind was Leona.

Since Dulkheim is an enemy nation of the Marcureys, they often have to deal with their former comrades, Leona is no exception.

During Crevaniel’s battle with Rems, Leona came to save Rems.

She was very sad because her master had now become her enemy, and many of her friends were gone.

In the end, Leona got killed right there.
