Basically, Gloria has a good personality.

In order to save the people of her world, she sacrificed herself by becoming the experimental object of fusing with Gevel.

Although the other reasons were because she was not in a position to refuse and did not dare to rebel.

Due to her fate, she is very lonely and yearns for a normal life.

She will show no mercy to those she considers her enemies, but she is easy to sympathize with people who are experiencing the same thing as her. She’ll try to do everything she can for people who are nice to her.

Background

Gloria’s true identity is the descendant of humans who migrated to the Mikuni Continent, and is of the same generation as Arieta.

According to Clive, Gloria is『A woman with no entity』or『A woman who doesn’t exist in this world』. If Zion continued to expand the distortion, she could exist in that world.

However, Zion was killed, and Gloria’s only hope vanished. Gloria wanted to take revenge on Zion’s killers, but since Zion was gone, the distortion disappeared, and she was no longer able to appear in that world.

Then, she looked for a world where she could exist again. At that time, she found a man stranded in the space-time gap.

When Crevaniel was stranded in the space-time gap, Gloria appeared and offered to help. She then took Crevaniel out of the space-time gap. However, instead of returning to his original world, Gloria sent him to the Kirschland continent (the world of Growlanser III The dual darkness).

In the Regen mountain tunnel, Gloria attacked Monica who was separated from Crevaniel when they were on their way to Roland Kingdom. Monica’s attacks failed to hit Gloria. When Gloria almost killed Monica, Crevaniel appeared, then Gloria disappeared.

Gloria also attacked Huey when he was waiting for Monica and Crevaniel to arrive at Schwartzhaas. Similar to what happened during the fight with Monica, none of Huey’s attacks hit Gloria. Again, Gloria suddenly disappeared when Crevaniel was almost at Huey’s location.

At the dark head shrine, Crevaniel and party encountered Simone who was searching for Gloria’s whereabouts. There, Simone told them everything she knew about Gloria. It turned out that Gloria was one of the reasons why Zion wanted to rule the world. They also found out that the reason Gloria sent Crevaniel to that world was to replace Zion.

After that, Gloria showed up to prevent them from sending Crevaniel back to his world. Simone immediately attacked Gloria with magic, but her attack had no effect on Gloria in the slightest.

Gloria, who was trying to thwart the ritual, intended to attack Huey. However, she was interrupted by Crevaniel. It turned out Crevaniel was able to touch Gloria because he was the same as her, an existence from another world.

Gloria who was held by Crevaniel cried and expressed her true feelings. Then, Crevaniel hugged her and convinced Gloria that she would never be alone again because he was going with her. After that, Crevaniel yelled at Huey and Monica to teleport him and Gloria.

As they opened their eyes they arrived at a beach that should be Marcurey. It turned out that they arrived in an era 200 years before Crevaniel’s original era. According to Gloria, that place would be where Crevaniel and party would fight Captain Mauler’s troops in the future.

Not long after, Gloria’s body was slowly expelled from that world. The only way to survive is by fusion with a being native to that world. Knowing that, Crevaniel offered to use his body. Moved by Crevaniel’s kindness, Gloria turned down his offer and vowed to return him to his original era.

Gloria then dived into the sea and fused with one of the sea creatures. After that, she transformed into a mermaid. After that fusion, it seemed like she had started to lose her space-time control ability. With her remaining power, she sent Crevaniel back to his original era.

Crevaniel thanked Gloria and promised not to forget her. There, the name “Gloria Marcuse” was revealed and she asked Crevaniel to continue to remember that she had existed at that era.

According to the legend passed down in Marcurey kingdom that was conveyed by Arisea in the main game, Marcuse is the mermaid who helped establish Marcurey Kingdom. It turned out that the mermaid in the legend at Marcurey was Gloria.

She was said to be able to foresee Marcurey future and save it from destruction. That’s why a statue of a mermaid was built in front of Marcurey Royal Castle. Her prophecies are known in the Marcurey Kingdom as “The oracle of Marcuse”.
